How can I pay my rent with KOHO?
To make a rent payment to your landlord, you can do so in-app. You can pay by selecting $ > Pay Rent or by going to the Discover tab > Rent Reporting > Pay Rent.
There are a few ways you can pay rent with KOHO:
Pre-authorized debit: Send your KOHO account information to your landlord to have the rent automatically debited from your account.
e-Transfer*: Send an e-Transfer to your landlord. If your landlord typically sends you an e-Transfer request instead, ensure that you fulfill the e-Transfer request with your KOHO account.
KOHO card: Send your KOHO debit card details to your landlord to have the rent automatically debited from your account. There may be a merchant surcharge for using this payment method. Please consult your landlord for further information.
*We have a daily maximum outbound e-Transfer limit of $3000. If you want to send rent over $3000, please use the pre-authorized debit or debit card option instead.
I already paid my rent, why isn’t my payment showing?
There may be instances where your rent payment is not automatically recorded. In these situations, our system will try to find your rent payment.
💡 The earliest date on which we can report rent is seven days following the sign-up date. If you have recently signed up and your rent is due within seven days of your signup, please pay your rent through KOHO going forward and the following month's rent payment will be your first reported payment.
To confirm your rent payment:
Open the KOHO app
Tap the Discover tab, then select Rent Reporting.
Confirm your rent payment 👍
Payment will be saved!
To manually add your rent payment:
Open the KOHO app
Tap the Discover tab, then select Rent Reporting.
Under “Completed rent payments”, select “Already paid? Choose the payment to mark it as paid.”
Choose the corresponding rent payment
Payment will be saved!
If you still cannot find your rent payment, reach out to our support team in-app or on the web portal to assist you.
How do I manage my rent details?
Need to change the rent amount, last payment date, or the rental end date?
You can update your Rent Reporting details right in-app:
Open the KOHO app and go to the Discover tab.
Select Rent Reporting.
Simply click on the settings icon in the top right corner of that page.
Select “Rent Details” and update your rent information.
What if I need to move or end my rental agreement?
We want to ensure Rent Reporting works with the changes in your life including a new move.
We recommend updating your address in-app. To make changes to your account in-app, head over to the profile icon > Personal Details in the KOHO app 📫
How will I know if Rent Reporting is working?
With Rent Reporting, your rent payment for a month is submitted to Equifax in the next calendar month.
For instance, if you enrol on September 2nd and your rent is due October 1st, your first reported rent will be in November 👍
For the initial report, Rent Reporting will not appear on your Equifax report until late November to ensure accurate reporting.
How will missing a rent payment impact my score?
Just like how paying your bills on time helps your credit score go up, the opposite is also true. If you don't pay your bills on time, it will damage your credit history.
Therefore, ensure timely rent payments to avoid the closure of your rent reporting account and any negative effects on your credit score.
The closer of a line of credit may or may not impact your credit score. Here are the reasons you might notice an impact on your score:
It can shorten your credit history and make you appear less creditworthy to lenders who prefer to see established lines of credit.
It might reduce the variety of account types in your credit history, which can impact your credit mix.
It could increase your credit utilization rate, which is the amount of credit you're using compared to the total amount you have available. When you close a credit account, you reduce the amount of available credit you have. If you’re borrowing from other credit lines, your utilization will increase.
Improving your credit score takes time and patience.
How do I cancel this?
To stop using Rent Reporting, follow these steps:
Open the KOHO app and go to the Discover tab.
Select Rent Reporting.
Simply click on the settings icon in the top right corner of that page.
Choose “Cancel Rent Reporting”.
Why was my Rent Reporting cancelled?
We will automatically cancel your Rent Reporting line with Equifax if any of the following apply:
Once you cancel Rent Reporting in-app
Once you miss 3 rent payments in a row
If you are no longer paying for either Credit Building or a paid KOHO Plan (Essential, Extra or Everything)
If Rent Reporting was incorrectly cancelled, you can start rent reporting again in-app.
