How will missing a rent payment impact my score?

Updated this week

KOHO reports on-time rent payments only to Equifax. This means:

  • If you pay your rent on time through KOHO, that month is reported as an on-time payment.

  • If you pay rent outside of KOHO, skip a month, or something goes wrong, that month is not reported as late or missed, it simply won’t appear on your credit report.

Will a missing month hurt my score?

It may, depending on the scoring model used by the lender reviewing your credit.

Every lender uses its own scoring system (there are many), and KOHO cannot see which one they use. Because of this, the exact impact of a missing month cannot be predicted.

However, not reporting a month is still much better than reporting you as late, especially if you paid rent another way.

What if I cancel and re-subscribe to remove a late status in the app?

Your credit report will only include months where you successfully made an on-time rent payment through KOHO.If a month isn’t reported, it won’t appear as late but the missing month could still have some impact depending on the scoring model.
