Why is a rental agreement needed for Rent Reporting?
Updated this week

When uploading your rental agreement, please make sure the rent details match the information you provided during sign up for Rent Reporting.

We use it to verify your rent information and share it with Equifax as part of your Rent Reporting. Check your emails or communications with your landlord to find it 👍

How do I upload my rental agreement in-app?

First, you will need to download your rental agreement to your mobile device. We recommend saving it in PDF form.

For more information on viewing downloaded files on your mobile device, refer to the guides below:

What types of files can you upload?

We accept files up to 10 MB in size and currently support .pdf and .docx formats.

What if my rental agreement upload does not work?

Please note that we currently do not support image uploads. We recommend converting your rent agreement file using the Adobe Acrobat JPG to PDF converter.

If you're still having trouble uploading your rent agreement, please contact our support team through the app or our web portal for further assistance.

How can I get my rental agreement verified?

When uploading your rental agreement, please make sure the following information matches the details you provided during the Rent Reporting sign-up process:

  • Address

  • Landlord's Name

  • (If applicable) e-Transfer Email

  • Rent Amount

  • Rent Due Date

  • Agreement Type (Fixed-term or Month-to-Month)

  • (If applicable) Lease End Date

How long does it take for my rental agreement to be reviewed?

Once you upload your rental agreement, it can take up to 2 business days to be reviewed.

What should I do if my rental agreement is rejected due to mismatched information?

There may be a discrepancy between the information on your rental agreement and the details in your Rent Reporting account.

You have two options:

  1. Provide a new rental agreement for verification. You can upload a new file directly in-app. Once uploaded, it will take up to 2 business days for review.

  2. Update your Rent Reporting details. Open the KOHO app and go to the Discover tab. Select Rent Reporting. Click the settings icon in the top right corner. Choose "Rent details" and update your information accordingly.

What supporting documents can I submit to verify Rent Reporting?

If needed, our support team may contact you to confirm your rental agreement details. We may request documents such as rent increase notices, amendments to the rental agreement, correspondence or letters from your landlord, payment receipts, or sublet agreements.

What if I do not have a valid rental agreement?

To use Rent Reporting, you must meet our eligibility criteria and submit a valid lease. If your rental agreement cannot be verified or you don't have a valid lease, your Rent Reporting will be automatically cancelled.
