When you sign in to KOHO on a new device or web browser, we may ask you to verify it before you can move money, view your card details, or make changes to your account.

We'll send a device verification email to the **login email address associated with your KOHO account**. You only need to verify each device or browser once.

## **Why do I need to verify my device?**

Device verification adds another layer of security to your KOHO account. It helps prevent someone from accessing sensitive information or making changes if they get access to your login information.

Until your device or browser is verified, you won't be able to do certain things, including:

* View your virtual card number and other card details
*   Send an e-Transfer
* Send money to another KOHO member
*   Update account information
* Change or reset your password
* Make other changes to your account

## **How do I verify my device?**

1. Sign in to KOHO on the new device or web browser you want to use.
2. Check the inbox for the login email address associated with your KOHO account. If you're not sure which email you signed up with, see [_I forgot which email address I used to sign up for KOHO with_](https://help.koho.ca/en_us/i-forgot-which-email-address-i-used-to-sign-up-for-koho-with-rJLcqicIbe).
3. Device verification emails are sent from **donotreply@koho.ca**. Always make sure you were expecting the verification request before following any instructions in the email.
4. Open the device verification email and check that the device information matches the device or browser you're using.
5. Follow the instructions in the email to verify it.
6. Return to the KOHO app or KOHO Web and try your action again.

💡 **Using both the KOHO app and KOHO Web?** After verifying your device, return to the same KOHO mobile app or browser you were using. If you switch between KOHO Web and the KOHO app, you may need to verify them separately.

## **What if I don't recognize the device?**

If you **weren't trying to sign in to KOHO**, don't verify the device or interact with the verification request.

Secure your account right away, using a device you already sign in on:

* **Change your KOHO password.** This will sign your account out on your other devices.
* **Change the password for the personal email account connected to KOHO**, especially if you think someone else may have access to it.
* **Review your two-step verification settings** and make sure the phone number or authenticator connected to your account belongs to you. If you use SMS, you can also switch to an authenticator app for added security.
* **Review your passkeys** under **Profile > Login & password > Passkey** and revoke any you don't recognize.
* **Lock your KOHO card** in the app if you notice suspicious activity.
* Contact our support team through the KOHO app or KOHO Web if you think someone may have accessed your account.

For your security, KOHO will never ask you to share your password, card PIN, or verification code.

## **I didn't receive the verification email**

Try these steps:

1. **Check your junk or spam folders.**
2. **Make sure you're checking the right inbox.** The email is sent to the login email address associated with your KOHO account.
3. **Check your email filters and forwarding rules.** They may have moved the email somewhere else.

If you still don't receive the email, reach out to our support team through the KOHO mobile app or KOHO Web.

💡 Device verification emails are security emails and can't be unsubscribed from. If you've previously marked a KOHO email as spam, this may prevent future emails from reaching your inbox.

## **How else can I keep my account secure?**

KOHO also supports **two-step verification and passkeys**.

* **Two-step verification** requires an additional verification step when you log in. You can use an authenticator app or receive a code by phone.
* **Passkeys** let you sign in using your device's security, such as Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or device PIN. Passkeys are designed to help protect against phishing and compromised passwords.

You can manage these options from **Profile > Login & password** in the KOHO app or web settings.
