Transferring/Withdrawing Crypto, Taxes, and Account Closure

Updated this week

Note: KOHO Crypto may not be available to everyone yet. If you don’t see the Crypto option in your KOHO app, stay tuned, we’ll share updates when it becomes available to you.

Crypto Transfers

Can I transfer crypto into KOHO from another wallet or exchange?

Not at this time. KOHO Crypto currently operates as a closed-loop platform. You can only buy and sell supported crypto assets directly within the KOHO app. Transfers from external wallets or exchanges are not currently supported.

Can I transfer crypto out of KOHO to another wallet or exchange?

Not at this time. Crypto held in KOHO currently cannot be transferred out of the app. To access your funds, you must sell your crypto. Proceeds from the sale are converted to Canadian dollars and added to your Spendable balance, where they can be used or withdrawn.

We're actively looking into adding this functionality down the road.

Can I send crypto to another KOHO user?

Not at this time. KOHO Crypto currently does not support peer-to-peer crypto transfers between users.

Can I exchange one crypto asset for another within KOHO (crypto-to-crypto trading)?

Not at this time. KOHO Crypto does not currently support crypto-to-crypto trades. Each transaction must be completed by buying or selling crypto using Canadian dollars.

We are actively exploring the addition of these features in the future.

Taxes and Reporting

How do I find my crypto statements in the app, and who provides them?

You can view and download your crypto statements directly in the KOHO app. All crypto statements are provided and maintained by Ndax, and reflect your activity on Ndax through KOHO Crypto.

To find your statements:

  1. Go to the KOHO Crypto page

  2. Tap the ⚙️ icon (top right)

  3. Select Statements

🔍 Contact Ndax at [email protected] for:

  • Questions about a buy or sell order

  • Concerns about the displayed price or balance of your crypto in KOHO

  • Help understanding your crypto trade reports or account statements

Ndax will acknowledge your request within 24 to 48 hours. Their support hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 10pm MST, and weekends from 8am to 8pm MST. Please note that response times and support hours may vary during holidays.

Do I need to report my crypto activity when I file taxes?

Yes. In Canada, crypto transactions may have tax implications. You generally need to report crypto activity when a taxable event occurs, such as selling crypto assets for Canadian dollars, which may result in a capital gain or loss.

Tax rules can vary depending on your situation. For more information, visit the Canada Revenue Agency website or consult a tax professional.

Will KOHO provide tax documents?

Yes. KOHO and Ndax will provide a report of your crypto trades to help you with tax filing. Your annual crypto statement for the previous year will be available starting January 1st 2027.

Important: KOHO and Ndax cannot provide tax advice. If you're unsure how to report your crypto activity, consider speaking with a qualified tax professional.

Closing Your Crypto Account

How do I close my crypto account?

  1. Go to the KOHO Crypto page

  2. Tap the Settings page (top right)

  3. Select Close Account

If you still hold crypto, you’ll need to sell it first. The money from the sale will go to your Spendable balance. Once your crypto balance is zero, you’ll be able to close the account.

Before you close the account, download any account or tax documents you need for your records. We are not able to send these documents after the account is closed.
